ABOUT · BOARDROOM TO BARN
A father’s discovery.A son’s mission.
DMI Impact began with the late Dr. David Barcik — a neurologist and inventor who saw, years before the industry did, that the answer to the transition cow wasn’t in her feed or her genes, but in her behaviour. His son R.T. Barcik — two decades in software, two exits, now “boardroom to barn” — picked up the work to carry it across the finish line.
A decade in the making —and only just beginning.
For more than ten years, Dr. Barcik proved the science the hard way: on real, working dairies across Florida, Colorado, and Kentucky — conventional and certified organic, hundreds of cows, matched controls, one consistent result. Then COVID paused everything. Rather than let the work fade, R.T. took up the torch — relaunching it for the UK and EU, where the transition problem is just as expensive and the appetite for honest innovation is high.
This isn’t a finished story we’re asking you to applaud. It’s an open, exciting frontier we’re inviting you into — farmers, vets, nutritionists, researchers, investors, and the simply curious alike. Whatever your background, there’s a place for you in what comes next.
The mission, andan open invitation.
The story in motion — the founder’s mission, and “The Book on DMI,” a growing, living explainer anyone is welcome to learn from and contribute to.
The status quo is a choice.
Every year, the transition period quietly takes its cut — because that’s simply how it’s always been. But “always been” isn’t a law of nature; it’s a decision no one has revisited. We think it’s time someone did. If that idea excites you too, you’re exactly who this is for — come help us prove what the cow has been trying to tell us all along.
Behaviour. Biology. Bottom line.
You’ve read the whole story. Now write the next chapter — on your cows.
